One of our longest running and largest DA management jobs has recently been approved. Mayer Imports was established in an industrial cul-de-sac just north of Sydney Airport some 40 years ago. Expansion was achieved by purchasing adjoining properties as cold stores to house the specialist imported foods for which the firm has become famous. Fifteen years ago, Neustein & Associates, designed, had approved and managed the construction of a cold store. But it was not enough. The firm saw that its “private” street could not accommodate further expansion and made plans to move to a single large warehouse complex.
In 2009, Mayers sought a rezoning for their amalgamated site ahead of the foreshadowed revision of Botany Bay LEP. Eight years later, a masterplan DA has been approved incorporating a podium carpark of nearly 500 car spaces above which will rise four eight storey office buildings. Throughout the long process of achieving this approval, we managed all aspects of the development, including briefing and directing the architects and all other consultants.
